a little about myself:
I have always wanted to be an artist. When I first made that decision at five years old, I didn't really know what that meant. I went through my entire childhood and didn't know what that meant. I even went to art school and still didn't know what that meant.
Fast forward in time to about a year ago , when my husband asked, "Can you draw a Channel Catfish for me?" I said I would try, but was not very enthusiastic about the idea. After many hours of struggling to figure out how a catfish is put together, I created something that did, to my surprise, resemble said catfish. More importantly, I realized that I really liked drawing fish. And I also realized that scientific illustration was, in fact, a thing. And I knew what being an artist meant (at least for me). I currently live in Molkom, Sweden with my dog, Franky, and my husband. I am working as a freelance illustrator and have a BFA in drawing from the University of Wisconsin - Stout. My education focused on traditional methods for making art (painting, drawing, etc.) but I am now teaching myself digital illustration. Besides scientific illustration, I enjoy creating cartoons and drawings, many of which are nature-focused. When I am not drawing, you can find me taking care of my plants, collecting rocks, and wandering around in bogs and forests. |
